Lakeside 10k - 28th July 2021

On Wednesday 28th July the Lakeside 10K race took place, it was a lovely evening with a nice lake photo opportunity.
Great to see team buzzards out flying!
There were 14 members in total that took part in the race, with special mentions going to:
David Lewis - 7th place overall

David commented " I signed up for Lakeside off the back of running Droitwich County Champs 2 weeks earlier, which was my first race over 10k distance - I was so psyched following it I'd signed up for lakeside the same evening I finished.
Lakeside 10k is a more mixed terrain race, with some fields and single-track but remains predominantly tarmac on quiet lanes. With the addition of some off-road running my hope was this would play to some strengths.
The course ran well, enjoyed the mass start which forced me to go out alot quicker, which inevitably dipped off a mile in... A few additional challenges on the way round including marshalling confusion, fence hurdling, leader slips and falls, low Holloways - at 6'4 this was fun... And sticking gates which momentarily slowed things. All of this added to the experience. No zoning out and settling into flow on this race, presence required at times. In all loved it really pleased with coming 7th, leaves more to aim for.
The biggest highlights though were the support and team spirit showed by Buzzards, with Lily's cowbell rave tune checkpoint cheering everyone on, and all Buzzards at the end cheering everyone home. Quality - this is why I love running
