PEN Y GHENT 50KM - Saturday 16 October 2021

Malvern Buzzards Running Club Captain Lily Price led a group of nine Buzzards in the Pen Y Ghent 50km ultramarathon in the Yorkshire Dales to celebrate the club’s fourth birthday.

The Pen Y Ghent 50km ultramarathon was a very challenging course with 4,600 feet of ascent, including a climb up Pen Y Ghent. The weather was misty and foggy at the start of the race, but the team did manage to get a glimpse of the sun revealing some stunning views over the Yorkshire dales.

Having nine buzzards at this event meant that Malvern Buzzards was the best represented running club at the event!
Sarah Armstrong was really pleased to come in first female in 5 hours 59 mins, finishing with team mates, Sam Burnage, Simeon Foreman and Steve Beldon finishing joint 14th place overall.
Alison Webb, Megan James, Nicola Brighton and Kate Dolphin finished in 7 hours with Captain Lily setting a new 50k personal best in 7 hours 35 mins.
